DOSTINEX Dostinex (Cabergoline) is used to treat high levels of prolactin. This is a hormone made by the body that affects things like the menstrual cycle, breast milk production, fertility, and sexual function. This medicine also treats high levels of prolactin caused by certain tumours. Dostinex is used to treat a hormone imbalance in which there is too much prolactin in the blood also called hyperprolactinemia. It works by stopping the brain from making and releasing the prolactin hormone from the pituitary gland. Dostinex(Cabergoline) use is usually stopped when prolactin levels are normal for 6 months.
